You all know what Ai is, you know right?
But let's chat a bit about what an AI company is. There is a thread where everyone says that they are an AI company and partly agree.
So,
Are chip, hardware companies Ai companies?
Are hyperscalers Ai companies because they are sprinkling Ai everywhere from consumer to b2b?
Data center, model, Ai infra companies Ai companies?
Ai natives, vibe coding ones, optimisation tools, GPT wrappers, agents are Ai companies?
Maybe a bucket of unknowns (quantum?)
We can move forward assuming it is a combination of some/ all of these. Example - slippers, flippers, sandals, Kolhapuri chappal, Crocs - same shi*, is it?
Let’s keep physical AI out of this for conversation.
Because in the dot com era, every company was saying we are a dot com company because we have a website.
Last year a UK based 8 years old company went from Unicorn to bankruptcy. It was named as the third most innovative AI company after Open AI and Deep Mind. Its name starts with B. It called itself an Ai company. I am glad we are discussing the definition of an Ai company … 💥
We can look at AI companies from another angle.
Is this a vertical AI company focusing on healthcare, supply chain as examples.
Traditional companies adopting AI tools, practices, etc.
Companies who have started with AI first mindset and practices, tools; but has to be after 2022 which is AI native.
I hope this helps.
